Severe Weather Warning System

The Village of Spring Grove maintains and operates a community wide outdoor severe weather warning system.  This system is designed to warn residents of an approaching tornado or extremely dangerous weather.  The system can by activated by Spring Grove Police Officers and designated fire district officials from police and fire vehicles.  It can also be activated by McHenry County E.S.D.A. from their base.

In the event of threatening weather officers carefully observe approaching storms and monitor local emergency services, police, fire, and civilian radio frequencies to determine the threat of danger.  If it is determined that the outdoor warning system should be activated the sirens are activated and will continue a steady blast for 3 minutes.

The first Tuesday of every month the Village will test the Outdoor Weather Warning System. The system will be activated at approximately 10:30 a.m. and will sound a solid blast siren for three minutes.  Any questions about the system should be referred to the police department.
