Village Clerk’s Office

 

In addition to having responsibility for taking minutes for all regular Village Board meetings, Appearance Review Commission, planning and zoning meetings, the Village Clerk and staff coordinate meeting times and agendas, prepare and distribute the quarterly newsletter, issue village stickers, codify and update the Municipal Code Book, coordinate community functions, maintain the village business directory, and a number of other services for the public and Village Board.  The Village Clerk also has the responsibility of records management for the Village.

After Hours Depository There is a yellow depository box, by the entry door, at the Municipal Center located at 7401 Meyer Road.  This depository box may be used for deposit of parking ticket fines, vehicle sticker requests and payments, and sewer payments.

 

Drivers License – To change your drivers license the Secretary of State office is located in Woodstock on Route 47.  To contact them call 815-338-3109.

 

Location of Village Offices and Business Hours The Village of Spring Grove Municipal Centre is located at 7401 Meyer Road, just south of Route 12.  Located within the Municipal Centre are the following departments:  Administration, Village Clerk, Building and Zoning, Police and Public Works.  All Village business is conducted during the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.  The Municipal Centre is closed New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Day after Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.

 

New Resident Information - We have new resident packets available at the Village Clerk’s Office.  Please stop in and pick one up.  Information including utility and garbage service providers, other government entities, school districts, park locations, vehicle sticker application, and village map.

 

Sewer Billing Information - Only those residents and businesses located within the special service area in the commercial and industrial areas along Route 12 have village sewer.  Sewer bills are sent out quarterly with the amount due on or before the fifteenth (15th) day after the bills are paid.

 

Solicitation The Village has a solicitation ordinance, which regulates the application, standards, hours, etc. of solicitation.  Inspection of this ordinance is available at the Village Clerk’s office.  If you wish to avoid a visit by any solicitor, place a “No Solicitation” sign by your front door in plain view of any visitor.

 

Vehicle Sticker Information – All residents and businesses of the Village of Spring Grove are required to purchase vehicle stickers annually for each car, truck or motorcycle operated by them.  These stickers are valid from October 1 of the issuing year to September 30 of the following year and are available for purchase all year round.  Pre-printed forms are mailed to residents in late August.  Bring in or mail this form to the Municipal Centre to purchase your stickers.  Vehicle stickers must be purchased and displayed by October 1 to avoid be charged double.  The Police Department can issue tickets to persons not purchasing vehicle stickers and a fine can be assessed to offenders.  Persons just moving into the Village during the year have thirty (30) days to purchase their vehicle stickers.

 

Weed Enforcement – The Village of Spring Grove has enacted an ordinance requiring the cutting of grass and weeds. On improved real estate, weeds cannot exceed eight inches in height and on unimproved real estate (vacant lots) weeds cannot exceed twelve inches. This is monitored on a weekly basis during months when grasses/weeds are actively growing.
