Chain O’ Lakes State Park - A water-oriented recreation area with outstanding opportunities for boaters, anglers and skiers.  Other activities include picnicking, nature walks on trails, horse rental, sledding, and camping. Facilities for disabled and or elderly visitors are available, including a quarter-mile-hiking trail. The park is located at 8916 Wilmot Road. The phone number is 847-587-5512.

Lyle C. Thomas Park and Nippersink Canoe Base Lyle Thomas Park is home to one of four canoe launches/landings along the Nippersink Creek. The creek meanders around cut banks and sandbars, beneath willows and through rolling farmlands. These landings are popular take-out points for canoeists using the Nippersink, as well as quiet angling and picnic spots. For further information, contact the McHenry County Conservation District at 815-338-MCCD (6223).
